ELSA-Pact Chair

ELSA-Pact Chair

The ELSA-Pact Chair aims to establish scientifically sound methods and tools for assessing the environmental and social impacts of human activities, and in particular natural resource management activities (agriculture/food, water and waste management).

Methods :

The distinguishing features of the chair’s operations are:

  • setting up public-private partnerships between researchers and industry,
  • a Life Cycle approach and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method,
  • active contribution to the harmonization and standardization of methods and tools.

Activities :

The Chair is based on the conduct of scientific work involving PhD students and postdoctoral fellows, the creation of training programmes for partner companies and the organization of scientific events to create awareness and disseminate Life Cycle thinking. It also produces industrial applications (e.g., ACV4E software to model sanitation scenarios, awarded an ADEME prize in 2015), training supports and other information material in the field of LCA.

The chair is currently held by INRAE in association with the other academic members of the ELSA research cluster: CIRAD, IMT Alès, and the Institut Agro Montpellier.

The operational team that manages the ELSA-PACT Chair on a daily basis is composed of the following members :
